Walking along a beach one morning the naturalist seems someone on the distance who appears to be dancing. The figure swoops down then rises up tall, arms moving away from the water and then towards it. Coming closer the naturalist sees a man standing amidst thousands of starfish. One by one he is picking them up and throwing them over the surf and into the ocean.
Approaching the naturalist asks, "What are you doing?"
"Saving the Starfish," is the answer.
"But there are thousands here," the naturalist observes, " what difference can it make to save a few of them?"
Picking one up the man looks at the naturalist. "It makes a difference to this one," and smiling he tosses it into the ocean.
